Kids’ Speech Therapy in Como
Speech Clinic Como provides speech therapy across their childhood and teenage years who live in the Como area. We advocate for early intervention. Recognising signs of potential speech, language, social, or literacy difficulties is important, as this helps us to reduce future impacts on social and academic success.
Can I just wait and see?
We’re always asked, “when is the best age to start speech therapy?”. Earliest is always best. Speech Pathologists can provide treatment and complete assessments to kids from 16 months to 18 years old. There is strong evidence supporting early intervention. When a speech therapist can support a child from birth until 4-5 years old, they can reduce the long-term impacts of a communication or language disorder. This provides children with the best chance to be school-ready. Sometimes speech, literacy, fluency, language and social interaction difficulties can become noticeable throughout a child’s schooling years. We also love supporting school-aged children and adolescents to reach their academic and social potential.

Our early years communication development seminar slides will become available for download here, later today. If you attended this seminar and have…
The importance of teeth in speech
What to expect if your child has lost their front teeth prematurely “If your child has lost their front teeth ahead of schedule, while some sounds may be impacted, the overall majority of their speech should be clear”.- Lauren Crumlish https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoMaPEiVQVk Dentition and Speech Sound Development The topic of dentition (teeth) and speech sound development is a complex one. Often in clinical practice, if a child is presenting with significant…

Higher Level Language Development
With April Fool’s Day just passing, it’s hard for speech pathologists to not think about the significance of humour. While many people do not necessarily realise, humour is actually a skill that draws upon many language areas. As a result, many children that present with language delays and disorders can have a significant difficulty both understanding and using humour with their peers - and this is essentially because many areas…
